What does the  Black Moon say in your birth chart?

The Black Moon in your chart is a calculated point between the Earth and the Moon. Depending on the house and zodiac sign it falls in, it reveals something very deep about your essence — your true, authentic self.

When you are born, you are completely innocent: intelligent, creative, joyful, and free from conditioning. You are open, without shame, fear, or feelings of unworthiness. You simply are — a beautiful child, wide-eyed, experiencing the world in its purest form.

As we grow older, we all go through conditioning. This comes from parents, school, religion, and our environment. Along the way, we get hurt — sometimes deeply. Gradually, we begin to disconnect from our truth.  “We lose touch with our autonomy and with who we truly are. This disconnection begins to show itself in different areas of life — such as work, relationships, friendships, creativity, sexuality, and spirituality.”

At that point, we tend to move toward the opposite side of where the Black Moon is in our chart. This opposite energy becomes something we develop strongly, because it feels safer and more accepted. It becomes our survival strategy.

However, we never completely lose our essence. Deep inside, there is always a remembrance of who we truly are — even if it becomes hidden over time.

From around age 7–8 up until approximately 36–42, we often live more from this “opposite side.” Then comes a powerful turning point: the Pluto square Pluto phase. This period can be intense and sometimes difficult, but it marks a deep inner shift.

During this time, people begin questioning their lives more deeply. There is a growing longing to reconnect with their truth. Pluto has a way of breaking down our defenses — often through challenging or painful experiences — and cracking us open.

The Black Moon shows where we once felt rejected or wounded. Because of this, we may have closed ourselves off or created a mask. The opposite side of the chart becomes where we feel safer, and so we build our identity there.

But when Pluto does its work, those protective layers begin to fall away. Slowly, we return to our essence — to that “big-eyed child” within us.

Each house and sign of the Black Moon describes your natural qualities and your deepest longing. It points to what feels most true for you at your core.

If the Black Moon is conjunct a planet in your chart, that planet becomes especially important. The Black Moon can intensify its energy or, in some cases, obscure its natural expression. It changes the way that planet operates, adding depth and complexity.

By understanding the Black Moon in your chart, you can reconnect with your truth and your inner longing. It helps you become more authentic and aligned with who you really are.

Many people, through this understanding, begin to recognize old childhood patterns and conditioning. They start to see why they may feel disconnected from their strength, why they make compromises, or why they struggle with fear or unworthiness — while at the same time feeling a deep desire to break free.

In my experience, people often feel deeply touched and liberated when they understand the meaning of the Black Moon in their chart. They often say they always knew their essence, but stopped trusting it, became afraid, or got distracted.

Reconnecting with that deep inner knowing is a powerful and emotional process.

Example

A woman around the age of 36 came for a reading. She had been searching for herself for years — traveling, taking courses, and doing therapy.

Her Black Moon was in the 4th house, conjunct Uranus. This showed a deep longing for a “normal” family, combined with a strong awareness of what felt true and what did not within her family. She often felt like she didn’t belong and carried shame about this toward the outside world.

The conjunction with Uranus made her extremely autonomous. She resisted being told what to do and valued her independence deeply. As a child, she would often say:
“I belong to myself — you can’t tell me what to do.”

When the Black Moon is in the 4th house, there can be a rejection of the family, and a movement toward the 10th house — the outer world. Often, from a young age, a person focuses on work, achievement, or building a life outside the family structure.

Understanding her Black Moon helped her see not only the pain and rejection she experienced, but also the strength, clarity, and authenticity within her. This brought her a sense of space and clarity.
